Chelsea star Cole Palmer has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award.
It comes as no surprise given how Cole Palmer has played in the English top flight this term.
In 30 appearances, the attacker has scored 21 goals and provided nine assists.
Unsurprisingly, Palmer is also up for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
He will have to come ahead of former Manchester City teammate Phil Foden if he wants to win either accolade, though. The 23-year-old has already claimed the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award.
Cole Palmer has approval of three players from Premier League rivals
Fulham are Chelsea‘s west London rivals, but that did not stop three of their players from naming Palmer as their player of the season.
When asked who should win the Premier League Player of the Season award by Fulham’s official Instagram account, Rodrigo Muniz, Raul Jimenez and Marek Rodak all went with Palmer.
Marco Silva’s side have been one of Palmer’s victims this season, with the England international scoring a penalty against them in a 1-0 win back in January.
Nine of Palmer’s goals in the Premier League have come from the spot. He has taken nine penalties in total so has a perfect record.
Cole Palmer deserves recognition
Palmer may not win the award, especially with Chelsea being pretty irrelevant this season.
However, Palmer deserves plaudits, which he seems to be getting from those in the game.
Thirty goal contributions in the Premier League at his age, playing for a new club, is really impressive.
It is going to be interesting to see if Palmer can maintain this kind of form next season.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly recently hailed him as a “phenomenon”, which is accurate. Continue to be that, and Mauricio Pochettino‘s men could have a much better campaign next term, a campaign that perhaps finishes with them in the top four.
